Robbie Michelle Short

Robbie LuLuRobbie graduated from UNC-Charlotte, studying Sociology and Religious Studies, before spending the next 12 years traveling the world as a flight attendant. The tragedy of 9/11 brought her to the mat emotionally drained, physically exhausted, and mentally scarred . Her love, passion and respect for Yoga began to blossom as she dove into the deeper aspects. As she began attending Yoga studios, near and far, she discovered the healing power of Yoga and the multiple possibilities and lineages if offers. Following these awakenings, she wanted to share her experiences and obtained both her yoga and meditation certifications from The Expanding Light in Nevada City, CA. from the lineage of Paramahansa Yogananda.

In the early years of teaching, she taught 5 years at One2Yoga in Donelson, TN as well as teaching Ananda Yoga for a brief period at 12 South Yoga and gyms. She served years on the Board of Directors of Yoga Society Nashville and is currently in her 5th year owning Half Moon and in the second year of being Franklin Lululemon’s yoga ambassador.  She is currently working on her 500 hour credits through Asheville Yoga Center and has already completed courses in Prenatal, Yin, Restorative, Anatomy with David Keil, and Seniors Yoga. She also attended the comprehensive foundation of YogaKids training, and has been lucky to share the gift of Yoga at Spring Hollow Community Learning Center for ages 3-6, A New Leaf in Nashville, Johnson Elementary School, UU youth group, as well as Moon Child Yoga classes at the HMY Healing studio and FREE events over the years in Pinkerton Park. With a passion for Corporate Yoga, Robbie sees firsthand how beneficial it is for companies to offer Yoga onsite witnessing their employees de-stress and recharge.

Her teaching style promotes a spiritual approach to go above and beyond just the physical aspects of the practice. Robbie plans her classes so that there is always some “spiritual food”, whether it’s through yogic philosophy, insightful quotes, or personalizing the affirmations. Her teaching style is strongly influenced by her own teachers, Gyandev & Diksha McCord, whom she still studies with. Robbie has also had the pleasure to practice under Erich Schiffman, Judith Lasater, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, David Williams, Rodney Yee, and others.

Robbie’s vision to create a healing center has been a constant work in progress and has recently expanded under her new partnership with Tracy Homier. Now providing multiple styles of yoga, energy work, intuitive counseling, massage therapy, Reiki,  meditation, acupuncture, recovery meetings, trance dance, tai chi, art, live music and more. Robbie’s approach to teaching touches the heart and soul, therefore,  Half Moon Yoga was coined “Franklin’s Heart Yoga”!  One of her favorite yogic quotes by B.K.S. Iyengar came to her when she took over the studio, “Your body is the bow, the asanas are the arrows, and the target is the soul”! The soul is the source of our light & love within…join Robbie to tap & tune within.
