Sunday, 11/23/14, “Yoga Nidra & AcuDetox”, with Robbie Short & Ann Coffey, 3-5pm, $30
AcuDetox began in our studio one year ago and it’s become a favorite specialty workshop. It’s a sweet combination of acupuncture, yin yoga, and yoga nidra. We begin in a circle performing yin yoga which is ideal for opening the meridians according to chinese medicine and one by one a student will get needled and placed in a relaxation pose. Once everyone meets in the relaxed position, Robbie guides yoga nidra, the state of sleepless sleep where one enters into theta brainwaves which is incredible for the mind/body. Yoga Nidra is considered the fine art of relaxation so it’s perfect for stress relief, chronic tension, high blood pressure, healing, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, or even to assist and compliment the detoxification process one may need or is going through! The acudetox has been known to help increase the success rate for anyone detoxing from substance or alcohol abuse, caffeine, sugar, or insomnia. You must experience for yourself and this one is timed perfectly to begin the Thanksgiving holiday week. Treat yourself before you indulge:)
Thursday, 11/27/14, “Attitude of Gratitude Flow”, with Robbie Short,
Last year, we began our first ever new tradition of developing a special class for Thanksgiving morning. This year we have titled it, “attitude of gratitude”. Meister Eckhart once said, “if the only prayer we ever said was thank you, that would be enough”. Well, we agree but we also want to extend that prayer as a physical manifestation of showing an attitude of gratitude for our healthy minds and bodies. This is a special holiday class to demonstrate a symbolic practice of flowing with grace and allowing gratitude to fill our hearts before we go our own ways to feast with family and friends.
Sunday, 11/30/14, “Healing Peace Meditation”, with Ayesha Nur, 3-4pm, $10
You may know Ayesha Nur already because she brought us the Sufi Blessing during our Blessing Ceremony when we first opened our new studio. She led a beautiful meditation that involved voice and movement. We remember it being quite powerful as the whole room participated. On this date, we will be meditating by Candle Light and not just with any candle but a candle she has created infused with essential oils and healing peaceful intentions. She makes Angel Radiance Candles and each is made with love and mantra alongside its unique oil blend that carry their own added benefits. Lucky for us, she will also be bringing in her pillar candles that may be purchased for you or someone you care for. If you feel like you need more peace physically, emotionally, or mentally…this is what you need. We all can recognize what this world needs is a bit more peace, OK a LOT more peace. This practice will allow you to raise yourself up to peaceful vibrations along with creating peaceful intentions!
Saturday, 12/6/14, “Chant Ram Kirtan”
Bhakti Yoga is the yoga of devotion. It’s chanting and singing from the heart. It’s a movement very much alive and growing in the Nashville region but Chant Ram is fairly new, however, the they are very much on the yoga path and have been on this path for quite a number of years. They have been devoted even with kirtan over a broad number of years. They have played 2 years in a row at the Music City Yoga Festival and they have played around in churches, festivals, and studios including Half Moon. Several of their songs follow the inspiration of American Kirtan godfather, Krishna Das.
Sunday, 12/7/14, “Himalayan Singing Bowl Meditation”, 3:30-5pm, $10
This the perfect time of year to hear bells chime for meditation! The holiday season is filled with bell chimes but its usually mixed within songs, striking before certain meditations/special services, and even from the Salvation Army bell but we never really have time to slow down, be still, and just take it in. When I briefly lived in London, one of my favorite things to do was to visit Westminister Abby and sit with my eyes closed and listen to the bells, pipe organ, and gregorian sounding boys choir. Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound and vibration is quite powerful! This is a chance for you to bathe in this sonic sound, to get grounded, become present, and connect to your soul. Yes, the resonance will take you there! The season calls us inward and the bells are great resource.
Sunday, 12/14/14, “Aromatherapy & Restorative Workshop”, with Robbie Short, 3-5pm, $30
An annual event is to carry certain essential oils into our December Restorative Workshop such as Myrhh, Frankincense, and Peppermint. This particular one is also Candle Lit to match this season of lights that we are in. Every lineage carries some sort of tradition of using lights around this time of year and this light is symbolic of truths and the light of the spirit within each of us. While they are lit you will be asked to seek and find the inner light that shines within your very own heart or essence of your being. The oils are not only medicinal but you will be told what their spiritual significance is as well. This is one of Robbie’s favorite restorative practices all year! Remember too, this is also a time for giving and this is a perfect gift to give to yourself esp during this busy time. You will feel blessed once you slow down and connect to the source.
Friday, 12/19/14, “Silent Night”, with Kate Moyer, $10, 6:30-7:30pm
Take a pause during the hustle & bustle of the season. This one hour meditation won’t take too much of your time and will give you some much needed space to reflect on the beauty of the season. The theme is silence and we will explore that through our minds with 6 short guided meditations. There will also be time for reflection at the end. The evening will be candlelit & peaceful so you can leave feeling relaxed and renewed, centered with a calm focus to continue your holiday week.
Thursday, 1/1/15, “New Year’s Practice”, with Robbie Short, 9:30-11am, $20
Happy New Year! Its a tradition at Half Moon Yoga to begin each year with a special class dedicated to embarking on the new year reflecting on the old and setting intentions for the new. Intentions and resolve can be set from your still quiet place we cultivate while together on the mat meeting in our sacred space. How can it get any better than that:)?
Sunday, 1/11/15, “Restorative Yoga with added Meditation on New Year, New You”, with Robbie Short, 3-5pm, $30
Starting the new year can still be so busy that we forget to sit down, reflect, dream, and plan. We are now entrenched in Winter and this season asks that we settle in, down, and re examine. The restorative postures allow not only for rest but they provide warmth, comfort, and acceptance. It offers an opportunity for our minds to calm and receive moments of clarity regarding our past, present, or future. The added meditation is great guidance for being in the question, taking notice, and creating possibilities. Its not too late..to set your intention for personal growth and transformation in 2015!
Sunday, 1/18/15, “Real Men Do Yoga”, with Lloyd Robison, 3-5:00pm, $30
In the past, yoga was made by men for men so where are all our men in the here and now with yoga? A few years ago, a book entitled “Real Men Do Yoga” hit the stands and Eddie George was on the cover when he played for the Titans. The book showed numerous star athletes who testified to the benefits of yoga. In fact, the Seahawks who won the Super Bowl last year claimed their winning season was due to yoga/meditation. Major recording artists rave about yoga such as Sting, Adam Levine, Chris Martin and many more! Needless to say, it’s not just the Swamis who are male..there are actually real practitioners living in the real world who are discovering the art & science of yoga.
Lloyd Robison from Nashville happens to be leading this special workshop designed for MEN. Ladies, this would be a great gift or stocking stuffer to introduce your man to the practice you may already love. Let them see its not as easy as it looks and it doesn’t have to be a hippy-dippy experience. Let them experience the strength required, the flexibility that can be gained, the heat that can kindle, the endurance that can be trained along with the intense focus and stability needed from first hand involvement:)
