Iyengar just recently passed at 95 and will forever be known and well respected in the yoga community! His knowledge and dedication to the practice will be shared by his student and our teacher, Linda Clark.

Our very own, Kate Puncochar, traveled to Africa two years ago to participate/volunteer for the African Yoga Project. She returned home so inspired she created the Music City Yoga Festival that was held last year at the Factory. This brought together vendors and yoga teachers across the Nashville area and it raised $12k and 100% went to charity! This year, its being held in Nashville in two segments 9am-1pm as well as 2-6pm. Please google Music City Yoga Festival to purchase tickets knowing its going for a good cause. The African Yoga Project is helping to train and fund teachers to spread the love of yoga. The teachers there go into the prisons, streets, and orphanages changing one life at a time, one pose at a time, one breath at a time, and one savasana at a time:)

Yoga is all about creating unity whether its within, with one another, with the earth/cosmos, or to the Divine Source so we are honored to be asked to share yoga during the festival! Once we discover the time, we will update you as well. We would love to see your beautiful smiling faces:)

Sunday, 10/19/14, “Serenity Salt Cave “, with Robbie Short, $30
Robbie will be leading another group this month off to the serenity Salt Cave in Nolensville. This workshop has become a favorite at Half Moon this year! Up to 12 participants are allowed into the cave. While nestled within, you will relax back in anti-gravity chairs soaking in the salt through breath and skin. This is Himalayan Salt imported in because this salt holds a lot of healing properties and has been known to aide many illnesses and disorders. During your time in the cave, Robbie will guide you into Yoga Nidra, the state of sleepless sleep. This is very healing for both the mind/body since this technique promotes theta wave activity in the mind. If you are not sure what that means, no worries. You have to experience it for yourself. Basically, you get BLISSED OUT:)
Sunday, 10/19/14, “Introduction to Ayurveda: What Dosha are YOU?”, with Leah, 3-5:00pm, $30
Leah recently relocated and setting up business in Nashville. She teaches yoga but is also passionate about yoga’s sister science..Ayurveda. She studied 2 years at an Ayurvedic University in CA. Several teachers and I have mentioned Ayurveda, the doshas, etc in classes before but this is a workshop designed to help you delve in further! Ayurveda is about living a particular lifestyle that’s best for your dominant dosha. This includes diet, oils, types of yoga/exercise, and all the other things we can use to maintain a sense of balance within. This workshop will focus on Ayurvedic basics including an inquiring test about you, your body, your life, etc that will help determine your dosha so you can go forward with knowledge and tools to make applicable in your life. Beginning in January, Leah will offer a 4 month series based on Ayurvedic principles but we highly suggest this workshop as a pre requisite for what’s coming…
Saturday, 10/25/14, “Developing Your Intuition”, with Sally Reid, 3:30-5pm, $20
Developing Your Intuition…What can I know? Psychometry is a psychic ability in which a person can sense or “read” the history of an object by touching it. Such a person can receive impressions from n object by holding it in his/her hands or perhaps, touching it to the forehead. Such impressions can be perceived as images, sounds, smells, tastes, and even emotions. Please bring objects or photographs that hold some meaning to you to the class. We will explore the way to open the door into your journey of knowing. In the book, “The Holograhic Universe”, Michael Talbot says psychometric abilities “suggest that the past is not lost, but still exists in some form accessible to human perception.” With the scientific knowledge that all matter on a subatomic level exists essentially as vibrations, consciousness and reality exist in a kind of hologram that contains a record of the past, present, and future. Psychometrics may just be able to tap into that record!
Sunday, 10/26/14, “Dani Williamson is BACK”, 3-5:00pm, $30
Dani Williamson has held two workshops already with us this year based on Women’s Hormonal Health as well as Gut Health. She was working with Dr. Kalb at Cool Springs Family Medicine but recently split and now has opened her own practice, Integrative Family Medicine off of Seaboard Lane. I know a lot of you had an appointment with her set up for months down the road..that’s just how well respected and busy Cool Springs Family Medicine is. My advice is to schedule a new appointment with Dani at her new office so you can be seen faster!
Sunday, 11/2/14, “Yoga Flow with Live Music”, with Kate Moyer & Whitney Korman, 3-5:00pm, $30
Whitney and Kate blessed us with a beautiful offering of yoga and their musical voices/instruments during our Anniversary celebration. Many of us were moved to tears by the power of the lyrics and the emotions that were translated through their angelic voices. We agreed..we all wanted to experience this again so this is it!
Friday, 11/5/14, “Himalayan Singing Bowl Meditation”, with Seth Ritter, 5:30-6:30pm, $10
Seth Ritter has practically become part of the staff with us at Half Moon Yoga Healing mainly because we love and believe in what he offers to our community. Robbie discovered Seth from a local publication, Natural Awakenings. He was offering a demonstration and discussion regarding these bowls in Nashville last year at Cosmic Connections. Following their meeting, he has been driving down to Franklin to offer this type of healing for us. There is something quite powerful about the sounds of these metal bowls. It can induce a state of meditation quickly and the sound has a way of keeping you there, unlike other meditations. We are experiential beings after all, so come see for yourself and experience the sonic bliss!

As you know, Stephanie and her family recently moved to Chattanooga but they have decided not only to offer one this fall but one next spring as well! The first one is intended to be small…minimum 10-12 attendees so this sold out within a matter of days. It will be held on a beautiful 40 acres with a private lake and trails, zip line, canoe, fire pit, and a sweet stone/wood home in GA just outside Chattanooga. You will be provided meals, yoga, meditation, and ceremonies and even a treat to a wildflower preserve and waterfall! We want to create another in the spring for those who are not getting an opportunity this time around. Please let us know who you are as we have a waiting list already!
Sunday, 11/9/14, “Restorative Yoga with Centering Prayer”, with Robbie Short, $30
Robbie will be returning from her weekend retreat to treat you to a Restorative workshop adding in Centering Prayer, a Christian Meditation. You will discover this meditation is mantra based in its own contemplative way. We look forward into helping you relax and renew!
Sunday, 11/16/14, “Learn Thai Yoga Massage”, with Lisa Yarnes, 3-5:00pm, $30 single or $50 couple
Some of you may remember when Lisa came to the old studio for this same type of workshop. This can be a couples workshop or even a family or friends type of workshop because we will be partnering with someone! Of course, you are more than welcome to attend by yourself as long as you have an open mind to share your touch with another as well as receive from another. If you intentionally come with someone, they can obviously be your partner. This workshop is hands on. Lisa will teach us a sequence and we will practice on each other once we are paired off. Its a brilliant way for you to learn how to give this type of body work to another but its also a great way for you to experience thai yoga massage for yourself! This is also a great workshop for body workers wanting just some exposure to this technique or for a yoga teacher wanting to learn for future reference or use. This can also just be a great date or experience for you and those you love.
